Salmon / trout??
Sure they do. It depends on how hungry and how stupid and how carried away with the moment they are. Both are yummy, though. It is very good fortune to catch either. Trout, though, like deeper pools and salmon like shallower fast moving water. Trout hit more in isolation from others and salmon tend to hit more when there's a crowd of them. There are, of course, subtle preferences in flies that one species or the other may demonstrate. But, flies are not so much a dogma that can be marketed across wide regions, because what fish hit on mostly are what bug in that region they have scored the most from in their individual short lives. Look around at the bugs and chose your flies based on that. Also, at sunset when the mosquitoes start to hatch and rise, sit so that you can see them silhouetted against the sunlight and watch with binoculars at what BIGGER bug snaps them up. Sometimes you can see that. Sometimes not. Those bugs that hit on hatchling mosquitoes are profoundly yummy to trout. Salmon are really stupid and kinda sorta hit at random, thank goodness, since they are so tasty and I don't have to break the law just lunging in the water and wrapping myself around them like a kid from time to time and breaking the law. Not that I ever sucb to that behavior.
