Why don't teen nick shows use brand names?

On teen nick shows ,like iCarly and Drake and Josh, they don't use brand name stuff. Like instead of Mac books, they have... Pear books? if you want to call them that. And they made up a show called America Sings, instead if American Idol. Why do they do this? Are they afraid of copyright infringement?
