Inheritance and beneficiaries?

My mom died recently. I was the only beneficiary on her checking and savings accounts and received the money yesterday (under $300K). I have no clue as to why she named only me. Anyway, her will states us three kids inherit equally. Can I deposit these checks then write my siblings a check for their share and will they have to pay taxes? BTW this money and some personal items were her only ets.
